Cocks in Kauai

The island is inundated with cocks of the chicken variety. Roosters and hens everywhere. Crowing starts at about 3:30 in the morning. Anyone got a shotgun?
Yesterday we headed out west towards Waimea. We drove to the end of the road in Waimea Canyon State Park. Alex insists it is called the Kokee State Park, whatever! We stopped at many lookouts and viewed Kauai’s mini Grand Canyon! Sun, rain, wind, cold, we had it all. It was fun and beautiful. A must see for all.
After coming down from the mountain, we had an ice cream cone; yummy. On the drive back, we stopped at Poipu and watched the sun set into the ocean.
Today we are headed over to the north end of the island. Tomorrow morning we are do a zip line tour over the tree tops. Alex is trying to kill me! Wish us luck.
We have arrived in Kauai

We have arrived! Our flight left San Francisco just after 9am this morning. About 12:30 Kauai time, we landed in Lihue. We had a great flight over on United Air Lines and we got special treatment! We got moved to the seats at the main cabin doorway. Talk about leg room! The flight crew treated us like royalty all thanks to our friend Jeff. Thanks a million Jeff, we really appreciated the extras!
I don’t know what it is about renting cars, but that process takes as much time as it does just to fly to Hawaii. It is “winter” in Hawaii (yeah, right!). There is just a little more rain than we hoped for, the wind is blowing and just a tad bit on the cool side, but hey it’s Hawaii so who cares!
I’m going to use the word “fabulous” even though it is not in my homo-masculine vocabulary. Let me just say, the hotel is just fabulous!
Well, we have to plan our itinerary for tomorrow. Talk to you all soon.

Hi All, we are packed and Alex is googling gay spots on Kauai and in Waikiki. It’s time to go to bed and get some sleep. Our flight leaves at 9am tomorrow. We have had some bad weather the last couple of day, so hopefully our flight will leave on time. We are excited!

This week Alex and Dean catch everyone up on where they have been for the past three weeks. Did you know gays attend RV shows? Yep, Alex and Dean invade the Alameda County RV show where they look at motor homes and trailers. They also start preparing for their upcoming trip to Hawaii like every gay man would – shopping.
Alex is in mourning over the announcement that RENT is ending its Broadway run on June 1, 2008. He still can’t convince Dean to take a trip to New York to see it one last time on Broadway. Public sex is being defended and attacked at the same time. The ACLU says Senator Larry Craig deserves privacy during public sex in the restroom while the police in Sacramento are cracking down on cruising. Alex talks about lots of entertainment news while Dean pretends he’s on the beach in Hawaii. American Idol, Kyle XY, Terminator, and the Golden Globes are just a few of the items discussed. Don’t miss the cute boys on the A&F website!
Filming for the Harvey Milk movie will begin in the Castro shortly. Have you seen Sean Penn hanging out in the Castro yet? Did you hear Tom Ammiano is going to play himself? Alex and Dean call this gay-lusional.

Happy New Year. Alex and Dean are back from our separate Christmas holidays. Alex enjoyed short sleeve weather in Southern California and Dean braved the cold, rain and snow in Oregon. Dean took the motorhome to Coos Bay for a couple of days. Alex went shopping!
Do gays have motorhomes? Well, in any event Hawaii is definitely in the near future.
Is it going to be another homophobic year for us? Alex and Dean discuss homophobia versus comedy and satire. Listen to what Garrison Keillor and George Lopez had to say and judge for yourself. By the way, Oregon gay rights are on hold; doesn’t surprise us.

I highly recommend the film "Shelter". It is one of the best gay films that Alex and I have seen to date! It is a beautiful love story that ends the way all love stories should. It had me crying tears of joy. Dean
